The Everglades Odyssey, a virtual tour.

Hello,

My name is Tom Cash and I am your host and the author of this site.  Through the awesome power of the World Wide Web, I shall attempt something I'd never have considered without it. A personal guided tour of the Everglades.  We will walk the land, wade through swamp and jungle, paddle up backwater creeks and traverse the rivers and bays which connect this eco-system to that of the Gulf of Mexico.  We will stop and examine certain plants and wildlife along the way.  Some which can be found nowhere else on earth but here. When this trip is finished you will know some of the wild untamed and diversified beauty to be discovered here. A paradise for the adventurer and student alike. I hope you enjoy and learn from the experience.

There are two items which need to be addressed at the beginning.  First: web sites cost time and money to build and to maintain.  This has been borne by myself and certain commercial interests found within the site.  I have made every attempt to verify the accuracy of any claims made on their pages.  In fact, I try to experience what ever service or product they offer.  Personally.  So occasionally you may see comments by me.

Second:  It is my intent also to strive for accuracy throughout the educational portions of this site. But I must warn you, the Everglades is a very subjective experience.  This tour is seen through my eyes.  There are hundreds of thousands of people who can say they have visited the Everglades.  Possibly 2% can claim truthfully to have really seen them.  There is so much variety in ecology, topography, marine, bird and animal life one could spend years here and not see it all.  Also, occasionally in my discourses I have been known to exercise the writer's license of putting in my two cents worth.  In other words, I editorialize. I make no apologies for this, but my opinions or comments should not be considered those of anyone else maintaining a presence in this domain, commercial or otherwise.  I have traveled much of the world, known many places, peoples and things.  I return here regularly and love the glades at least as much as anyone, so I admit to mixed feelings about encouraging more visitors.  Yet I believe this place is something so special, every single person should experience it at least once in their lifetime.  And the sooner the better, before humans manage to trash it out of existence.

This site is in its infancy and will be under construction indefinitely.  As each page goes onto the net, a link will be entered below.  Hope you enjoy.
