In terms of loyalty, open communication, response time and cost, YOU lose with third party service. Whether it is dispatched through a manufacturer or any other service re-seller who does not actually perform the work.
Consider this:
The servicer's first loyalty must be to the hand which directly feeds him/her. In third party arrangements, this is definetely not you. It counts for little that you are shelling out three to five times the amount he/she will actually be paid for performing the work.
Response time suffers. Primarily because you are discouraged from having direct communication with your servicer. This causes unnnecessary delays.
O.E.M. Replacement parts for UPS; many are proprietary but some are not. Batteries, cooling fans and switching relays, items most prone to failure, can often be duplicated from other sources. A first party relationship with the right provider can assure you exact same quality (often from the same manufacturer) without an unreasonable mark-up on these consumables. After all, your welfare is our # 1 concern.
